Entrep life dot dot dot

I never write about what I do in life and if I did write.. I never published them… =) and I never wrote about CMT.. hehe..  this would be the first time..

“I wanna be a doctor” – that was my dream when I was a kid. Being in a family of doctors, the only profession I can picture myself in was a physician (well aside from the usual dreams of young girls – magazine editor, fashion designer, celebrity etc. hehe).   I actually did not see myself being an IT professional – I just took MIS because I love math and techie stuff back in high school. But now here I am, a full time risk taker a.k.a. entrepreneur or in other words unemployed but self-employed =) I am getting various reactions from different people.. you know in parties where people ask you about either of the 2 things: love life and career. Where do you work? What do you do? some are amazed  and inspired but some are really puzzled, and some are even against my career path (but yes they have a point). Choosing this path was not an easy decision. Months of April and May – the months which are very exciting for any graduate student, where they get all the offers, the negotiations etc. But also the months of soul searching.  But for me, it is only between to work or not to work and start an empire (haha). Yes it is really ambitious of me. But great people started out as great dreamers and I am just thankful to have supportive parents to ride with me in this great adventure.

Month of April, I was really puzzled if I will be hunting for a job or to go entrepreneur all the way, especially that I am surrounded of good friends who are so excited with their jobs, who pushes me more for the concept of as a graduate we should look for a job. But on the other hand, I also got to meet people who are also passionate in pursuing their dreams as an entrepreneur, especially my ASES family (Asia Pacific Entrep Society) and also like one of our clients in CMT – 3 EuroStudies graduates grilling something big for the tourism of the Philippines and also I will not forget a good friend who is really firm with his decision on not going for corporate but instead venture to his big dream. His strategy is, he will try what he really wants for 2 years, and if nothing happens, maybe that’s the time where he should be looking for a job. And I think that would work greatly for me also. Maybe for me 1 year?  hahaI I actually want to experience having a corporate job or further studies also.  But I am still looking for the right one for me and of course if CMT is all set already and can stand by its own.

Here’s my personal note of pros and cons of being an entrepreneur (this will change through time I’m sure, since I am just in the start of my journey)

  1. Entrepreneurs can go out anytime and can work late if he/she wants to – but unknowingly your jobs are never done because as much as you can – you want them to be more beautiful and just simply the best – because they are the products of your company. Even though you are flexitime and you are your own boss, technically you can mess around if you want to, but surely you will not do that because there’s more pressure for yourself because your own company is at stake. So you end up wasting more time for your beloved company =) —- but I can travel anytime ;;) that’s a big plus!
  2. After all, I still believe that bigger percentage goes to the divine intervention or for others they call it luck, over skill, wit and the like :)   Entrepreneurs also need divine intervention that clients will just come and love your products but being an employee, there’s moohlah waiting for you every month no matter what and with a bunch of bonuses and benefits.
  3. Delayed Gratification! – A business will not boom at once. First period will really be tough. – you need a financier for your necessities and luho or you could have other rakets ;;) to sustain you in life! Haha! – PATIENCE and a lot of SACRIFICES!
  4. You will be a teacher for yourself =) You need to learn a lot of stuff, so you should consult your bestfriend google and a bunch of mentors and teachers. It’s like.. the 4 years in college is just an introductory course and it’s all up to you how you would explore

CMT or CleverMind Technologies, Inc. is my first entrepreneur venture…. To be continued…  http://clevermindtech.com/ ;;)
